Hello, my name is Kris Campbell. Life with clay serendipitously began in 2003, when a daughter asked me to join her at the local art center for an evening class. There was something about the process of taking a lump of clay and forming it into an object that so moved me, I have been hooked ever since.
I then moved to the ceramics department in the Kalamazoo Institute of Art. With the help of their many talented instructors I have been honing my skills, first in the evenings after my full time job as an ophthalmic technician and after giving up my day job, devoting myself full-time to pottery as a lab tech/potter. It took me awhile to discover my true passion.
Having been raised to camp and enjoy the outdoors, nature plays an important part in my surface designs. I find great inspiration walking the beach on vacation or walking in the woods behind our home or in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
